What do running shoes have in common with tyres

10 December 2013

Continental has been supporting Adidas since 2007 as a supplier of the so-called “Traction Compound” outsoles for different segments of shoes. What started as a project by the sporting goods manufacturer to improve the grip of its shoes has now become a technology partnership. In the meantime, there are said to be more than 80 different shoes under the Adidas brand on the market that will benefit from Conti’s rubber and rubber compound “know-how”. To show the similarities between tyres and shoes, the automotive supplier has already published a study entitled “Rubber for Running”. In eleven pages you can find plenty of information, photos and interviews with the Continental and Adidas managers involved in the partnership, as well as quotes from various professional marathon runners who have set records using Adidas-Conti outsoles.
