Two or three genuine OZ rim novelties
09 May 2013
Although the OZ rim, also called “Superforgiata”, is nothing new, what is new is that this model is now also available in a special coating with a stylish gloss. “The mirror effect is achieved through a patented process in which the surface of the rim’s ten spokes is completely smoothed by means of ceramic beads and a tetrahedron,” the company explains.
The ceramic-polished version is available in “Matt Black” and “Grigio Corsa” versions in 19 and 20 inches for cars such as the Audi RS4, RS6 and R8, BMW M5 and M6, Ferrari 430 Scuderia and 458 Italia, Lamborghini Murcielago and Gallardo, Nissan GT-R, as well as for the Porsche 911 Turbo, GT2, GT3, GT3 RS and the new 991 models.
The new OZ rims are in fact for fans of high-clearance vehicles, SUVs and crossover models: in the form of a rim called “Sahara”. The casting is described as a high-quality machined rim with an attractive design and is said to have an extremely high load capacity – up to 1,100 kg per wheel.
“In this way, *Sahara* is suitable for the heavy categories in these vehicle classes, such as the Toyota Land Cruiser or Nissan Navara,” says OZ about the “X-Line” programme, which is part of the production range. From June it will be available in two versions – with five spokes as “Sahara-5” in sizes 8.0 x17 and 8.0x18 inches and with six spokes, “Sahara 6” in sizes 8.0 x17 and 8.5x18 inches. The straight, trapezoidal spokes visually match the OZ design and extend from the edge of the rim, which contributes to the sporty spirit of the vehicle.
