Quehenberger Logistics expands its partnership with Continental

10 May 2013

With the establishment of a regional distribution centre in Novosibirsk, Quehenberger Logistics is massively expanding its cooperation with the German tyre manufacturer Continental. In Siberia and the Caucasus, in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, 5,000 square metres of space will be made available for an extensive warehouse. This will complement the central warehouse in Moscow already acquired by Continental Quehenberger.

Tyres of all sizes (for passenger cars, vans / light trucks, industrial vehicles) with a total weight of 2,000 tonnes are stored on an area of 10,000 square metres, distributed by order and shipped across Russia. In addition,  Quehenberger also offers deliveries from Continental’s European plants to Russia. At the same time, Quehenberger is responsible for the logistics of Continental’s new plant in Kaluga, located  170 km south-west of the Russian capital.

To build up the logistics for Continental, industrial machinery will be delivered from EU territory by the end of July 2013. Shipments for sea transport from the United States and China will also continue to be organised. After the Kaluga plant is completed, tyres will be shipped from there and delivered to the central warehouse in Moscow.

In this way, the Salzburg-based company is responsible for the storage, transport and value-added services for a total of around 800,000 Continental tyres across Russia and its neighbouring countries.  “We are once again proving our leadership in Russian automotive logistics,” says Klaus Hrazdira, the country’s Director of Commercial Affairs. The Salzburg logistics company was awarded the “Logistician of the Year” prize in Russia in 2011 – and last year alone, according to its own data, the target turnover in Russia doubled.
